About this product
Single use - do not re-use. Do not apply to broken skin or open wounds.
Convatec Eakin Cohesive® Seals are mouldable, moisture-absorbing ostomy seals (also called barrier rings or stoma rings) that help protect peristomal or periwound skin from harmful attack by aggressive body fluids by creating a protective gel. High tackiness on both sides is designed to hold any subsequent ostomy appliance securely in position on the body. The seal can be warmed, stretched and moulded around the base of the stoma to fill uneven skin surfaces, creases and gaps, and is designed to help prevent leakage with one-piece and two-piece ostomy appliances. Eakin Cohesive Seals are used by people with a colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy, people managing fistulae or wounds, and the healthcare professionals and caregivers who support them.

How It Works
Eakin Cohesive seals are moisture-absorbing, skin-protecting seals which protect peristomal or periwound skin from harmful attack by aggressive body fluids by creating a protective gel. High tackiness on both sides ensures that any subsequent appliance is held securely in position on the body.
Compatibility
Designed to be used between the skin and a one-piece or two-piece ostomy appliance. Consult your healthcare professional or appliance manufacturer about use with your specific system.
Directions for Use
Application
- Remove the seal from its outer package.
- Ensure that the area for application is clean, dry and free from traces of grease or cream.
- Warm the seal in your hands for 20-30 seconds until soft before removing the protective discs. Gently stretch the Eakin Cohesive seal as required to fit the application site. It may also be cut and securely re-joined to fit around more difficult sites.
- Apply to the skin with gentle pressure and hold in place until the Eakin Cohesive seal is secure on the skin. Mould the seal towards the base of the stoma or the edge of the wound.
- Ensure a snug fit, with no gaps around the base of the stoma, to provide maximum skin protection. Ensure the fit is not too tight around the stoma, which might prevent normal ostomy function.
- Place any appliance directly onto the surface of the Eakin Cohesive seal. Hold in place with gentle pressure until securely attached to the seal and the surrounding skin.
Removal
Gently remove any appliance from the body. Remove the Eakin Cohesive seal by carefully peeling and rolling from the outer edge. Wipe gently to remove any remaining protective gel from the skin. A medical adhesive remover can be used if necessary.
Disposal
Dispose of waste products in accordance with local guidelines.
