Our Story
Proudly Edmonton-based, locally owned, and family-operated for 35 years
Healthcare Solutions began 35 years ago with a simple vision: to improve access to quality home healthcare products. Founded in Edmonton by pharmacist Brian Scherba, our locally owned and family-operated business was built to provide a better selection, faster service, and expert guidance for those seeking independence and well-being.
Now in its second generation, Healthcare Solutions is proudly led by Brian’s children, Darin Scherba and Jillian Spotowski, who continue to uphold the values their father instilled. Through every challenge, our commitment to the community has remained unwavering.
1983
We started in a small retail space in the Strathcona Community of Edmonton with just one employee. This modest beginning laid the foundation for the thriving business we are today.
1991
The Healthcare Solutions name was born.
1994
Grand opening of our first store on 99 Street.
2005
Northgate store opened, increasing our reach and customer base.
2015
ADLEquipment.com was established, enhancing accessibility and efficiency in providing services through the Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) program.
2017
Gateway Boulevard store launched, strengthening our presence in Edmonton.
2019
Navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while experiencing a surge in demand for home healthcare products. Despite the challenges, we adapted quickly to serve our customers safely and effectively.
2020
Founder Brian Scherba transitioned leadership to his children, stepping back while remaining a trusted advisor. To this day, he continues to serve as a consultant, keeping a strong connection with the Edmonton community.
