Provided me with pain relief after bone graft surgery to leg. Less pain, less drugs. As one other reviewer commented it's much easier to use frozen water bottles than ice cubes. 10 bottles - 5 in the freezer and 5 in the machine, keep switching them. Ice cubes are messy. The speed control works well. On low it provided cooling for 8 hours. On higher settings it gives a quick burst of relief for flare-ups. It hasn't leaked a drop. You can get by with using the wrong pad (I used the hip pad for my shin/ankle area) but the correct pad fits better. I could rent a machine but it was not as good quality (no pump) and I had to buy my own pad for $120 for use with the rental, plus the rental fee. So spending $300 for a better unit like the Ossur Cold Rush and either keeping it or selling it when you are done is a better deal.
