Experience comfort and mobility with our robust power chairs and high performing electrical wheelchairs. Also called “power wheelchairs,” each system is designed to give you the optimal performance you need to easily get from place to place.
Our power chairs are equipped with at least four wheels: two large drive wheels and two or more caster wheels that stabilize the chair. The occupant can navigate the chair using a joystick, and choose a chair that offers front, middle, or rear-wheel drive to suit the terrain they will drive on.
Power chairs and electric wheelchairs are excellent for indoor and outdoor manoeuvring. Depending on the power chair you choose, you can benefit from versatile foot platforms, adjustable seating, and accessories, such as storage space, device charging options, and cup holders.

Electric Wheelchair Features
Your days of using a manual wheelchair are over! Discover some of the reasons our customers across Canada love our power wheelchairs:
Customization: Some models, including the Pride Jazzy Air 2 Power Chair and the Golden Literider PTC Portable Power Chair, offer a number of color choices, allowing occupants to feel more at ease in a chair that matches their style.
Manoeuvrability: Turn corners without worry in one of our smooth riding power wheelchairs. Each model has a different turning radius that ranges from 17” to as much as 26”. What is a turning radius? It’s the smallest turn that a vehicle can make when navigating in a circle.
Programming: If you suffer from hand injuries, power chairs make using the joystick a painless experience.
Batteries & Performance: Many of our power wheelchairs run at about four miles per hour. In a single charge of the Lithium ion batteries, you can cover up to 32 kilometers! It’s important to note that battery duration may vary based on the battery manufacturer.
Seating: Offering a variety of positions, the chair occupant can recline, lean forward, and lie down. They received optimum support in all positions because the seat redistributes pressure. Our power wheelchairs come with this feature because they are meant to be used for long periods at a time.
Transport: Some of our models are designed to be portable, lightweight, and easy to disassemble, which makes transporting the machine easier for caregivers.
Safety: An electric wheelchair can be secured while transported in a van with the occupant in it. This prevents injuries to the occupant and the other passengers while the vehicle is in motion.
Mobility: Reliance on a loved one or caregiver is significantly reduced since power chairs have indoor/outdoor performance. The occupant can navigate around the house to retrieve items or go out to attend events. They regain most of their independence and can live with dignity.
Weight Capacity: Our selection of electric wheelchairs have a weight capacity of between 250-500 lbs., which can consist of the weight of an occupant and additional items.

Will Insurance or Government Funding Pay for Power and Electric Wheelchairs?
Government funding covers electric wheelchairs with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) coverage. Generally, Insurance will pay for 80% of the electric wheelchair with you paying 20%. But Canadians must meet certain criteria in order to be covered. This includes:
You have a health condition that impacts your mobility.
The doctor who is treating you provides a written order that confirms your medical need for it.
You must be able to use the wheelchair in your home. If you live in a house or apartment that cannot accommodate the machine, Medicare will not cover it.
You are capable of operating the wheelchair or there is someone who is always available to assist you with it.
Government funding and insurance has many other criteria, so be sure you meet all of them, so you can pay less out of pocket. A power chair, whether it folds or not, can be an expensive investment. But Healthcare Solutions offers many types of medical equipment, so if an electric wheelchair isn’t right for you, we have other products available for your needs.
