Drive Medical Nitro Neuro Upright Walker with Reverse Braking

The Nitro Neuro is an upright walker designed for users who need more support than a standard rollator provides, including people living with Parkinson's disease or other neurological conditions. The user walks upright with their forearms resting on padded arm supports rather than leaning forward onto handgrips, which keeps the head and shoulders in a more upright posture while walking.

Its distinguishing feature is a reverse braking system. Instead of braking when the levers are squeezed, the brakes hold by default and release only while the handles are held, so the walker stops rolling when the user lets go. A resistance knob adjusts how freely the walker rolls, allowing the pace to be set to the user's ability. Sit-to-stand handles, a padded seat and a two-position storage bag are included, and the walker accepts the existing Nitro cup holder.

Features

• Reverse braking system that holds the brakes until the handles are held
• Adjustable braking resistance knob to set rolling speed and resistance
• Easy-grip brake handles
• Thick, height-adjustable arm pads
• Padded seat for resting
• Integrated sit-to-stand handles
• Two-position storage bag
• Accepts the Nitro cup holder, sold separately

How It Works

The braking action is reversed compared with a conventional rollator. The brakes are engaged whenever the handles are not held, so releasing the handles brings the walker to a stop rather than leaving it free to roll. Holding the handles releases the brakes to walk. The resistance knob sets how much drag remains while rolling, which lets a user who tends to move faster than they can safely control walk at a steadier pace.

Safety Information

• Do not exceed the 350 lb (159 kg) weight capacity.
• Do not sit on the seat while the walker is on a slope or on an uneven surface, and make sure the brakes are engaged before sitting.
• Do not use the walker to pull yourself up from a chair or toilet. Use the sit-to-stand handles as intended, with the walker stationary and the brakes engaged.
• Do not hang bags or weight from the arm supports or handles, which can make the walker tip.
• Do not use the walker on stairs or escalators.
• Check that the arm pads are locked at the same height on both sides before use.
• Read the user manual before first use.

Specifications

Sizing

Arm support height should be set with the user standing upright in their usual footwear, shoulders relaxed. The pads sit so the forearms rest level with a slight bend at the elbow, without the shoulders being pushed up or the user having to lean. Set both sides to the same position and confirm they are locked before walking. A clinician should confirm the fit.
