How It Works
Two anatomically contoured ankle pads are said by the manufacturer to help protect, stabilize, and relieve the malleoli. The anatomical 3D knit design is intended to deliver targeted elastic compression to help provide support, along with mild protection of the limb or body segment for acute and prophylactic care. Compression-reduced edges are designed to help divert pressure at the ends of the support for a more comfortable fit, while breathable, elastic, soft knit fabric is intended to enhance overall comfort. Visual graphics printed around the malleoli area are included to help ensure correct application of the support.
Application: Sit down to fit the support, then pull it on like a sock. If needed, fold the top of the support inside out as far down as the heel before pulling it on to make fitting easier. If provided with the optional donning aid, glide the foot into the aid before putting on the support, then pull the aid out from the tip of the foot once the support is fitted. The support is properly fitted when the heel sits firmly in place and the malleoli pads are positioned behind and below the ankle.
Indications
- Support and compression following acute and chronic ankle injury and mild ankle and foot osteoarthritis
- Proprioceptive and neuromuscular stimulation through compression (to support balance conditions and movements)
- Prevention of injury
Contraindications
- Any known allergies to the medical device materials
- Peripheral arterial diseases
- Impaired blood flow in the leg (e.g. with diabetes mellitus)
- Impaired lymphatic drainage or soft tissue swelling of unknown origin
Warnings and Precautions: Intended for single patient use only. If skin conditions or trauma are present in the area, fit and wear only after consultation with a medical professional. Do not apply on open wounds. Wear directly on the skin; do not apply lotions or ointments to the area while wearing the support. Remove the support during longer periods of rest. Contact a doctor immediately if pain, swelling, changes in sensation, or other unusual reactions occur. Do not use if the device is damaged or if packaging has been opened, or in any way that may damage its integrity. Keep out of reach of children, as improper use can cause a hazard.
Consult a healthcare professional before use if you have any concerns about suitability for your condition.
