The DonJoy ManuForce is an elastic knitted wrist support that compresses and stabilizes the wrist joint. A malleable aluminium stay sits in a pocket along the palm side and can be bent to shape or removed once it is no longer needed, and a removable strap wraps the wrist to add compression. The contoured knit is breathable and shaped to sit without wrinkling as the hand moves.

Specifications

Sizing

Measure the circumference of the wrist at the narrowest point, then choose the size whose range includes that measurement. Order the side that matches the affected hand; left and right are separate products.

Indications

• Chronic, post-traumatic or postoperative inflammation of the wrist joint and/or soft tissues
• Wrist sprains
• Wrist tendinitis (tenosynovitis)
• Mild osteoarthritis
• Rheumatic wrist pain (arthralgia)
• Carpal tunnel syndrome

Contraindications

The support should only be used after consulting a healthcare professional if you have any of the following:

• Skin diseases or injuries in the area being supported, including allergy-related skin changes, irritation, or scars with swelling, redness or unusual warmth
• Lymphatic disorders, or soft tissue swelling of unclear cause in the affected area
• Circulatory or sensory disorders in the affected area

Directions for Use

1. Choose the left or right version to match the affected hand.
2. Pull the support over your hand and wrist, placing your thumb through the opening on the side.
3. Position the support so that the hole in the silicone insert on the inside sits over the bone on the outer side of the wrist.
4. Bend the aluminium palmar stay carefully to suit the shape of your wrist.
5. If you want more compression, attach the strap to the velour patch on the inside of the support and wrap it around the wrist. Do not tighten the strap too much, and loosen it immediately if it feels tight.
6. Once the stay is no longer needed, hold the support by its top end and gently pull the stay out of its pocket.

When using the strap, avoid direct contact between the hook-and-loop fastening and the knitted support, as this damages the appearance of the knit.

• Read the instructions before first use. The support is intended to be fitted by a healthcare professional, or by a patient or caregiver who understands the instructions and is physically able to follow them.
• If pain, swelling, changes in sensation or any other unusual reaction occur while using the support, consult a healthcare professional immediately.
• If you have a skin disorder or injury on the part of the body being supported, the support should be fitted and worn only after consulting a medical professional.
• Do not wear the support for more than 8 hours a day.
• Where the support is worn directly on the skin, the skin should be clean and free of moisture, oils, creams, gels and similar residues.
• Used as instructed, the support should not create pressure points.
• The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for a modified product or for incorrect use.

Care Instructions

• Hand wash in lukewarm water at 30 degrees C with a mild detergent.
• Air dry. Do not place on a radiator, heater or other heat source.
• Do not use bleach or chlorine, and do not iron.
• Remove the aluminium stay before washing.
