BurnNet Dressing Retainers are elastic tubular net bandages designed to hold primary wound dressings in place without adhesive tape. The net is knitted as a continuous seamless band from a nylon and rubber blend, and it stretches well beyond its relaxed length and diameter so it can be pulled over a limb or torso and settle back against the body.

Because the retainer holds a dressing by gentle circumferential pressure rather than by sticking to the skin, it is intended for use on sensitive, fragile, or healing skin where repeated tape removal is a concern. The surface is smooth and non-binding, and the retainer applies light supportive pressure without adhering to the wound or the surrounding tissue.

The retainer is made with latex, reusable, and tubular in shape. Eleven sizes cover application sites from a single finger or toe up to the chest, back, and abdomen, and the net is sold by the foot and cut to the length you need.

Features

  • Elastic stretch-net tubular retainer, knitted as a continuous seamless band
  • Holds primary dressings in place without adhesive tape, designed to protect fragile skin
  • Stretches well beyond its relaxed length and diameter to conform to body contours
  • Applies gentle, non-binding pressure intended to keep dressings securely positioned
  • Smooth surface and non-adhesive construction
  • Nylon and rubber net construction, contains latex
  • Reusable
  • Pre-cut tubular shape
  • Eleven sizes available, from finger and toe through to extra-large chest and back
  • Sold by the foot and cut to your required length

How It Works

The net is knitted so that it holds a small relaxed diameter but expands substantially under tension. When stretched over a dressed limb or torso and released, the net contracts back toward its resting diameter and grips the body surface evenly around the full circumference. That even, low-level pressure is what holds the dressing against the wound bed.

Because retention comes from the elastic net rather than from an adhesive bond, the retainer can be rolled off and reapplied without pulling at the skin, and dressing changes do not require peeling tape away from healing or already fragile tissue.

Indications

Intended to secure primary wound dressings in place on the limbs, head, shoulder, chest, back, abdomen, and other body sites, particularly where adhesive tape is unsuitable.

Consult a healthcare professional before use to confirm that this retainer and the selected size are appropriate for the wound, the dressing, and the application site.

Directions for Use

  • Select the size that corresponds to the intended application site using the sizing table below.
  • Cut a length of net long enough to cover the dressing with an overlap at each end.
  • Apply the primary dressing to the wound first, following the dressing manufacturer's instructions.
  • Gather the net, stretch it open, and draw it over the dressing so the dressing is fully covered and the net edges rest on intact skin.
  • Release the net and check that it lies flat and even, with no twisting, rolling, or bunching over the wound.
  • Check the limb or site regularly for signs that the fit is too tight.
  • Do not use this retainer as a primary dressing. It is intended to secure a dressing, not to cover a wound directly.
  • Do not apply the net so tightly that it restricts circulation. Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if numbness, tingling, colour change, coolness, swelling, or increasing pain occurs below the application site.
  • Do not reuse a retainer that is soiled, contaminated, torn, or has lost its elasticity.
  • Do not reuse a retainer across different patients.
