The MACH is a full-size four-wheel mobility scooter built for outdoor travel rather than short indoor trips. Full suspension and pneumatic tires front and rear keep it steady over uneven pavement, gravel and grass, and the captain's seat swivels, slides and reclines so the riding position can be set to suit the rider.

Controls are laid out like a small vehicle: a digital display, wig-wag throttle, adjustable tiller, headlight, turn signals, hazard lights and a horn. The scooter starts with a contactless key card rather than a key, and the off-board charger means it does not have to be parked next to an outlet.

This is a large, heavy scooter for one adult rider who can operate it safely without assistance. It is designed for outdoor use, is not crash-tested for use as a seat in a motor vehicle, and is not intended for public roads. Indications

Designed to provide mobility to adults restricted to a seated position, where an inability to walk or a severe walking disability means a manually propelled wheelchair is no longer workable but the rider can still operate a powered drive correctly. Causes may include paralysis, loss of a limb, limb defect or deformity, or joint damage.

Contraindications

The manufacturer states that scooters are unsuitable for people:

• with severe balance problems
• with reduced and insufficient eyesight
• with severe cognitive impairments

The scooter is also not intended for people who are visually impaired, and is not to be used by children under 12. The rider must be mentally and physically suited to driving it, with full finger function.

Compatibility

A hard-top canopy is available separately and bolts to mounting points on the frame. Fit only accessories approved by the manufacturer, as unapproved additions can affect stability and electromagnetic immunity.

Directions for Use

The scooter arrives assembled and needs no tools to put into service. Charge the batteries fully before first use, pair the supplied key card at the tiller, and set the tiller angle and seat position while the scooter is switched off and stationary. Charging is done indoors through the tiller port. Before ordering, check the width and turning radius in Specifications against your doorways and storage space, as the scooter does not fold or break down into car-boot sections.

Safety Information

• Do not exceed the weight capacity or carry passengers. Both shift the centre of gravity and can cause a tip.
• Do not use this scooter as a seat in a motor vehicle, or sit on it while a vehicle is moving. It is not crash-tested.
• Do not operate it on public streets and roadways. Obey local pedestrian traffic rules.
• Do not exceed the rated slope or kerb limits, drive at an angle across an incline, or reverse down a step or drop.
• Do not turn on a cell phone, two-way radio or other hand-held transmitter while the scooter is powered on. Electromagnetic interference can cause unintended movement or brake release; switch the scooter off if that happens, or if it behaves erratically at any time.
• Do not release the free-wheel lever unless the scooter is switched off and on level ground.
• Do not lift or move the scooter by the armrests, seat or body panels.
• Wear the seat belt, keep hands and feet on the scooter while driving, and switch the power off before getting on or off.
• The motor surface can exceed 41 °C after driving. Let it cool before touching it.
• Charge in a well-ventilated space away from flames and sparks. Never use water on a battery fire.
• The scooter's overall length exceeds the Annex M accessibility limits, so it may not fit some accessible transport bays.

Care Instructions

• Clean plastic and metal parts with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleanser. Wash upholstery with warm water and mild soap, and check the seat and back periodically for sagging, cuts and tears.
• If disinfecting, confirm the product is approved for the scooter's surfaces first and follow its own safety instructions.
• Check tire pressure at least weekly, keeping it in the range given in Specifications, and inflate from a regulated air source only. Replace tires through a dealer once tread falls below 1 mm.
• Charge the batteries before each day's use, and check that fasteners are tight and lights are working.
• Never hose the scooter down or let the controller sit in water. Dry any area exposed to moisture before riding.
• For long-term storage, charge fully, remove the battery pack, keep the scooter warm and dry, and recharge periodically.
• Have an authorised dealer inspect the motor brushes every six months if the scooter is not running smoothly. Wheels should only be serviced or replaced by a qualified technician.
• Dispose of the scooter, its packaging and its batteries according to local regulations. Contact a dealer or local waste authority about battery recycling.
