The Movo Brome is a four wheel mobility scooter designed for transportation indoors and outdoors for a single occupant who cannot walk unaided or cannot walk long distances. It is a full size, road legal pattern scooter with lighting, turn signals, a horn and a rear mirror, built around a 700 W motor and a pair of 12 V lead acid batteries.

Suspension is fitted front and rear on all four wheels, and the seat swivels for transfers, slides fore and aft, and carries a headrest and width adjustable armrests. The tiller angle adjusts to suit reach and seated position. A freewheel lever lets the scooter be pushed manually on level ground, and the seat, front basket and rear compartment cover lift off for loading into a vehicle.

Movo is based in Granby, Quebec. The Brome is supported by a two year limited warranty on the frame and a one year limited warranty on the controller, electronic components and charger.

Directions for Use

Charge the batteries fully before the first use. Charging is done through a port on the tiller using the supplied off-board charger, which runs on a standard 100 to 240 V household outlet and must not be plugged into an extension cord. A full charge from a depleted battery can take up to 15 hours, so plan for a charging spot near an outlet with ventilation around the charger.

The freewheel lever must be left in the drive position whenever the scooter is parked, charged or transported. Full operating instructions, control identification and error codes are in the user guide linked below.

Safety Information

  • Do not drive the scooter in rain, snow, wet grass or standing water. Contact with water can damage the electrical system.
  • Do not sit on the scooter while it is being transported in a vehicle. The tie-down hooks secure the scooter itself and the seat is not a vehicle seat.
  • The maximum slope the scooter can be driven on depends on the weight it is carrying. It is rated to 10 degrees with a 50 kg (110 lb) occupant, 8 degrees at 70 kg (154 lb), and 6 degrees at the full 136 kg (300 lb) capacity. Do not drive on a slope steeper than the rating for the weight being carried.
  • Single occupant only. Do not carry passengers, including children.
  • Do not put the scooter in freewheel on any slope, and never leave it parked on a gradient with the motor disengaged.
  • Turn the key off before getting on or off.
  • Do not remove the anti-tip wheels or modify the scooter with non-authorized parts.
  • Mobility scooters can be affected by electromagnetic interference. Do not operate hand-held transceivers or mobile phones while the scooter is switched on, and turn the scooter off if unintended movement or brake release occurs.
  • Use only the charger supplied with the scooter, and only 12 V lead acid batteries. Charge in a well ventilated area and do not smoke nearby.
  • Observe local pedestrian rules wherever the scooter is used. The scooter may only be used on routes approved for it under local legislation.
  • The full set of warnings, including inclines, obstacles, level crossings and electromagnetic interference, is in the user guide linked below. Read it before first use.

Care Instructions

Clean with a damp cloth and a gentle detergent only. Do not use abrasive or scouring cleaners, and do not use a hose or splash water directly onto the scooter. Wipe the seat upholstery with a damp cloth and a little soap.

Store the scooter in a dry place away from direct heat, damp, oil, acids and alkalis. If it will be stored for a long period, disconnect the battery terminals and recharge the batteries at least once every three months. The user guide sets out the daily, weekly and monthly inspection schedule, including tire pressure and tread checks. All maintenance and repair should be carried out by an authorized dealer.
