How It Works

According to the manufacturer, the elastic knit is designed to provide graduated compression around the knee, which may help support the joint and manage feelings of discomfort associated with strains, sprains, and overuse. The snug knit is also intended to support joint awareness (proprioception) during movement, while the patella buttresses are designed to help keep the kneecap tracking within its groove. It may be suitable as an intermediate-level support when transitioning away from a rigid brace back toward everyday activity. 

Indications

• Support for mild to moderate ligament sprains of the knee (e.g., MCL or LCL)
• Support and comfort for mild muscle or tendon strains around the knee, such as patellar tendinitis
• Support for repetitive-strain and overuse conditions, such as patellofemoral pain syndrome ("runner's knee")
• Reassurance and comfort during the conservative recovery phase of a minor meniscus injury

Contraindications

This is an intermediate elastic support and is not designed to stabilize severe trauma. Do not rely on this sleeve as primary support for severe injuries such as a complete ACL tear or an acute patellar dislocation, as it does not have the rigid hinges needed to prevent the knee from buckling under load.

Warning: Patients with phlebitis should not use this product.
