Ossenberg 220 Klassiker Open Cuff Forearm Crutches

The 220 Klassiker is an open cuff forearm crutch built for daily walking support indoors and out. The open cuff design lets the arm move in and out of the crutch freely, which suits users who put the crutches down and pick them up often through the day. A moulded arm cuff, a shaped handgrip and a non-slip tip work together to steady each step and spread load away from the hand.

The height adjusts through a clip mechanism in the lower shaft, so the crutch can be set to suit the user and reset if footwear or gait changes. Reflectors are built into the crutch for visibility in low light. Grip style and tube finish are selectable, so a pair can be matched to the user's hand preference and to their own taste.

The 220 Klassiker is intended for users who need partial weight-bearing support and can manage a crutch safely on their own or with supervision. A clinician can advise on whether a forearm crutch is the right aid and how it should be fitted.

Features

• Open arm cuff for quick entry and release
• Arm cuff moulded from fibreglass reinforced plastic
• Choice of grip styles to suit hand shape and preference
• Lightweight metal tubing offered in two finishes
• Non-slip natural rubber tip with a metal inlay
• Reflectors for visibility in low light
• Height adjustable through a clip mechanism in the lower shaft

How It Works

The forearm rests inside the open cuff while the hand takes the load through the grip, so weight is shared between the forearm and the hand instead of resting on the wrist alone. The clip mechanism in the lower shaft sets the crutch height, and the rubber tip with its metal inlay holds contact with the floor as the crutch is loaded and lifted.

Safety Information

• Do not exceed the stated maximum user weight.
• Do not use the crutch if the tip is worn, split or missing, or if the shaft, cuff or grip is cracked, bent or loose.
• Do not use the crutch until the clip mechanism is fully engaged and the height is locked at the same setting on both crutches.
• The tips are made from natural rubber.
• An open cuff does not hold the crutch on the arm when the handgrip is released.

Sizing

Crutch height should be set with the user standing upright in their usual footwear, arms relaxed at the sides. The handgrip normally sits level with the crease of the wrist, which puts a slight bend in the elbow when the hand is on the grip.
