The MOVO Pilot is a folding 4-wheel travel mobility scooter designed as a mode of transportation for seniors and for people with disabilities or limited mobility. This portable mobility scooter folds manually into a flat, wheeled shape that can be rolled or lifted into a car trunk, and the tiller adjusts for both height and angle to suit the rider.

The lithium-ion battery pack on this electric mobility scooter sits under the seat and is designed to be removed for charging away from the scooter or for storage between trips. The control panel carries the power switch, the speed selector and the horn, and a wigwag throttle paddle handles forward and reverse from either hand.

The Pilot folding scooter is designed for use on sidewalks, pathways and other surfaces intended for pedestrians. It is not for use on roads intended for motor vehicles.

How It Works

The Pilot has no separate brake lever. Pulling the throttle paddle drives the scooter forward or backward depending on which side is pulled, and releasing it lets the paddle return to centre, at which point the scooter decelerates and stops on its own. An electromagnetic brake holds the scooter whenever the power is off, which is why the power switch is not a stopping control - switching it off while moving cuts the brake in immediately and stops the scooter abruptly.

Compatibility

• Charge with the original MOVO charger supplied with the scooter. Other chargers are not covered by the manufacturer's instructions.
• Replacement batteries must be lithium-ion of the same amp-hour capacity. Do not mix old and new batteries or batteries of different capacities.
• Unauthorized modification or repair is not permitted. Parts replacement is to be carried out by the manufacturer's designated maintenance personnel.
• This scooter is not to be used together with high-frequency surgical equipment.

Directions for Use

1. Open the shipping box flat and remove the scooter, the charger, the battery and the manual.
2. Check every component against the packing list and inspect for shipping damage before assembling anything.
3. Fit the armrests.
4. Charge the battery fully before the first ride.
5. To unfold, stand the scooter on a level surface, release the tiller lever and raise the tiller to the riding angle, then lift the seat backrest until it clicks into place.
6. To fold, reverse the sequence: pull the folding lever, push the backrest down onto the seat, release the tiller lever and lower the tiller, then lock the lever.

Safety Information

• Do not exceed the maximum rider weight of 275 lb (125 kg).
• For one rider only. Do not stand up while operating the scooter.
• Do not drive on roads intended for motor vehicles.
• Confirm the folding frame, the tiller and the seat are locked and fully engaged before every ride.
• Switch the power off before getting on or off. Do not use the power switch to stop while moving.
• Do not drive after drinking alcohol, when fatigued, or while taking medication that may affect your ability to operate the scooter safely.
• Children under 12 should not operate the scooter.
• Anyone unsure whether their health allows them to operate a mobility scooter safely should speak with their physician first.
• Do not operate the scooter with a depleted battery.
• Avoid flooded, frozen, slippery and chemically treated surfaces.
• Keep the scooter and the control panel dry, and let them dry completely before use if they get damp.
• Keep portable radio frequency communications equipment at least 12 inches (30 cm) away from any part of the scooter.
• The user manual carries the full safety list, including all battery and charging warnings. Read it before first use.

Care Instructions

• Keep the charging area clean and dry.
• Charge after each use if you ride daily, or once a week if you ride weekly.
• For long-term storage, charge the battery fully and remove it from the scooter.
• A stored battery must be recharged at least once every three months.
• Store the scooter indoors and away from damp environments.
