Test

The PX4 is a four-wheel mobility scooter built for riders who need a high weight capacity and a full-size platform. It carries suspension at both axles, pneumatic tires front and rear, and a high-back memory foam seat, and it is intended for use both indoors and outdoors on hard surfaces such as asphalt, concrete and hard-packed gravel.

The ignition uses Near-Field Communication rather than a key. Tapping or holding the fob near the receiver on the side of the tiller starts the scooter, and the fobs are matched to the individual unit. Steering and controls sit on a delta tiller with an LCD console, and a supplemental hydraulic handbrake is fitted alongside the regenerative and disc park braking systems.

This is a full-size scooter and it does not come apart into sections for transport. Moving it by vehicle requires a lift, ramp or trailer rather than lifting pieces into a boot. Check the weights and dimensions below against how you intend to transport it before ordering.

Features

  • NFC key fob ignition, with fobs matched to the individual scooter
  • Delta tiller with LCD console
  • Full suspension, front and rear
  • Pneumatic tires front and rear
  • High-back memory foam seat, depth adjustable and mounted on a fore-and-aft slider
  • Colour-through shrouds, with the colour running through the plastic rather than applied to the surface
  • Full LED lighting package with turn signals
  • Water-resistant user interface
  • Regenerative braking, an electromechanical disc park brake, and a supplemental hydraulic handbrake
  • Manual freewheel lever, allowing the scooter to be pushed short distances on a level surface
  • Not made with natural rubber latex

Indications

The manufacturer states the intended use of this device as follows: to provide mobility assistance to persons with mobility impairment who have the capacity to operate a motorized mobility scooter in an indoor or outdoor environment.

Directions for Use

Pride Mobility requires that an authorized provider or qualified technician performs the initial setup of the scooter. Charge the batteries fully before the scooter is used for the first time. Perform the pre-ride safety check set out in the owner's manual before each use, including checking tire condition, confirming the batteries are charged, confirming the freewheel lever is in drive mode before sitting down, and squeezing the handbrake lever fully five to seven times to confirm it is working.

Safety Information

  • Do not sit in this scooter while travelling in a motor vehicle. It does not meet ISO 7176-19 standards for occupied transport. Transfer to a vehicle seat and secure the scooter separately.
  • Do not exceed the weight capacity of 500 lb (226.8 kg).
  • Do not carry passengers, including pets.
  • Do not hold a leash to walk a pet from the scooter, hang articles from the tiller, or tow or be pushed by another motorized vehicle. Each of these can affect steering and stability.
  • Do not sit on the scooter while it is in freewheel mode, and never put it into freewheel mode on an incline. Freewheel mode disengages the braking system.
  • Keep both hands on the tiller and both feet on the floorboard while driving.
  • Set the speed dial to its lowest setting until you are familiar with the controls.
  • Braking distances are longer on an incline than on level ground. Plan routes to avoid adverse terrain and inclines where possible.
  • Maintain, but do not exceed, the air pressure rating marked on each tire.

These are the essentials only. Read the complete warnings and cautions in the owner's manual and the Consumer Safety Guide supplied with the scooter before use. If you are unsure whether this scooter suits your needs, speak with a physician, occupational therapist or physiotherapist.

Care Instructions

  • Clean the plastic and metal parts with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleanser
  • Do not hose the scooter off or place it in direct contact with water
  • Clean vinyl surfaces with vinyl-safe disinfecting wipes or solutions. Bleach solutions with a pH of 10.5 or higher can damage vinyl over time
  • Do not use any cleaning agent, disinfectant, solvent or lubricant on the brake pads, brake discs, transaxle or motor
  • Clean electronics with a microfibre cloth dampened with a 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water solution. Never spray liquid directly onto the product
  • Before extended storage, charge the batteries fully and disconnect them, then store the scooter in a warm, dry place
  • Do not allow the batteries to freeze, and never charge a frozen battery

Sizing

Check the overall length and width against the doorways, hallways and lift the scooter needs to pass through. Seat-to-ground height affects how easy it is to get on and off, so measure it against the height the rider transfers from comfortably. Seat-to-deck height determines legroom between the seat and the floorboard. Both heights are adjustable across the ranges below, and the seat also slides fore and aft and adjusts for depth.

Standard seat, width x depth 18 x 18 in (45.7 x 45.7 cm)
Seat size options, width x depth 18 x 18-20 in, 20 x 18-20 in, 22 x 20-22 in
Seat slider travel 6 in (15.2 cm)
Seat-to-ground height 24.2 to 25.6 in (61.5 to 65.0 cm)
Seat-to-deck height 16.5 to 18.4 in (41.9 to 46.7 cm)
