The Coloplast SenSura Mio Convex Soft Flex baseplate (16886) is a 2-piece, cut-to-fit soft convex ostomy skin barrier (also called a baseplate, wafer or flange) designed to give gentle support for stomas sitting in an inward (recessed) area, from immediately after stoma surgery and beyond. It forms the skin-contact half of a SenSura Mio 2-piece ostomy system and pairs with SenSura Mio Flex colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy bags in the matching coupling size. Its elastic adhesive with BodyFit Technology and integrated flexlines is designed to adapt to the shape of the body around the stoma, combining stability with flexibility as you move. The Flex coupling has a floating flange that can be lifted away from the stomach while you press the bag into place, so you do not need to apply direct pressure to the area around your stoma.

Sizing

Measure your stoma using a stoma measuring guide, then cut the baseplate opening to fit closely around the stoma. This baseplate can be cut from 1.5 to 4 cm (15 to 40 mm). Choose a bag with the same 5 cm (50 mm) red Flex coupling. 

How It Works

The soft convex shape of the baseplate presses gently into the skin around the stoma, designed to help the stoma protrude and to create a secure seal where the stoma sits in an inward area. Flexlines built into the baseplate allow it to bend with the body while keeping its shape around the stoma. With the Flex coupling, the flange floats above the adhesive, so it can be lifted and pressed together with the bag without pushing on the abdomen.
