Cardinal Health Telfa Ouchless Adhesive Dressings are sterile, single-use dressings measuring 2 in x 3 in (5.1 cm x 7.6 cm). Each dressing pairs an absorbent cotton pad with a perforated non-adherent film on both sides, so the dressing can absorb light drainage without bonding to the wound surface.

The non-adherent film is what gives the dressing its name. Because the film sits between the wound and the absorbent core, the dressing is designed to lift away at removal rather than pull at newly formed tissue, which may help make dressing changes more comfortable on healing wounds.

Adhesive strips hold the dressing in position without a separate retainer or tape. Each dressing is supplied sterile in an individual peel-back package, dispensed from a perforated carton.

The packaging of this product contains latex. Do not use if the patient or caregiver has a known or suspected latex allergy or sensitivity.

How It Works

The absorbent cotton core draws light exudate away from the wound surface. The perforated film bonded to each face of the pad allows that fluid to pass through into the core while presenting a smooth, low-adherence surface to the wound itself. Because the film is applied to both sides, either face of the dressing can be placed against the wound.

The adhesive strips secure the dressing to the intact skin surrounding the wound, so the pad stays aligned over the wound bed without additional tape or a net retainer.

Indications

Intended for use as a primary dressing on lightly draining wounds.

Directions for Use

• Confirm the package is intact and unopened. Check the expiry date before use.
• Clean and prepare the wound according to the direction of a healthcare professional.
• Peel open the individual package and remove the dressing without touching the pad surface.
• Centre the pad over the wound and press the adhesive strips onto clean, dry, intact skin.
• Change the dressing as directed by a healthcare professional, or sooner if it becomes saturated, soiled, or loose.
• Do not use if the packaging is damaged, opened, or wet, as sterility cannot be assured.
• Do not reuse. Each dressing is single use only.
• Do not use on a patient with a known or suspected latex allergy, as the packaging contains latex.
• Do not use on heavily draining wounds. This dressing is intended for light drainage.
• Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if increased pain, redness, swelling, odour, or other signs of infection develop.
