The OPTP Com-Pressor is a pelvic compression belt made up of an inelastic belt that sits around the hips and four separate elastic straps that fasten over it. Because the straps attach independently, the direction and firmness of compression can be set differently for each person rather than being fixed by the shape of the belt.

It is designed to support the pelvis and to be worn while working on the muscles of the lower abdomen, back and pelvic floor, and the manufacturer intends it for use with conditions affecting that area, including sacroiliac joint instability, groin and lower abdominal strains, osteitis pubis, hernia, reduced core muscle function, and pelvic pain after childbirth. It sits close to the body and can be worn under clothing. The belt was developed by Diane Lee, a Canadian physiotherapist specialising in the pelvis and lower back.

Please note: this product contains latex, and for hygiene reasons it cannot be returned once opened. Please check the sizing guidance below before ordering.

Features

  • Inelastic belt worn around the hips, with four elastic compression straps that fasten over it independently
  • Direction and firmness of compression can be adjusted around the pelvis by repositioning the straps
  • Low-profile, designed to be worn under clothing
  • Non-slip inner surface
  • Three sizes, by hip measurement
  • Supplied with an instruction booklet

Directions for Use

The belt is fitted around the hips, and the elastic straps are then positioned and tensioned to suit. Where and how firmly the straps are placed depends on the individual, so the instruction booklet supplied with the belt sets out the method. If the belt has been recommended by a physiotherapist or other clinician, follow the positioning they have shown you.

Safety Information

  • Do not use this product if you have a latex allergy or sensitivity. It contains latex.
  • Compression should be firm but comfortable. Loosen the straps if you notice numbness, tingling, skin discolouration, pain or shortness of breath, and stop using the belt if these continue.
  • Check the skin under the belt regularly, particularly if you have reduced sensation in the area.
  • Speak with a clinician before use if you are pregnant, or if you have a hernia, a recent abdominal or pelvic surgery, or a circulatory or skin condition affecting the area.

Care Instructions

  • Hand wash in cold water with a mild soap or detergent.
  • Line dry or lay flat to dry.
  • Do not use hot water.
  • Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
