The Pride VivaLift! Tranquil 2 is a power lift recliner built to help you sit down and stand up without strain, and to hold any position in between. It is the second-generation Tranquil, sharing the original's specifications and adding a memory hand control that saves your preferred positions and a range that reaches from upward lift through to lay flat, including positions that raise your feet above your heart.

Infinite position is what separates this lift chair from a standard recliner. Four motors drive the backrest, footrest, headrest and lumbar independently, so the chair is not locked to a handful of preset angles - you can recline the back without lifting the feet, or extend the footrest while sitting upright, and stop anywhere between upright and lay flat.

The Tranquil 2 lift chair comes in four sizes and nine fabrics, with a waterfall back, Total Comfort seat and contrast stitching across the range. A lithium-ion battery backup keeps the chair operating during a power outage, so the lift function still works to get you out of the chair.

How It Works

A lift recliner runs on a motorized lift frame under the chair. Pressing the lift button on the remote raises the whole seat and tilts it forward, bringing you close to standing before you take your own weight, and reverses to lower you back into the seat. Recline and lift are separate motions on separate motors, which is why the Tranquil 2 can hold positions a manual recliner cannot reach - relaxed, reclined, upward lift and lay flat, and anywhere between them. If household power fails, the battery backup runs the motors long enough to bring the chair back to a position you can leave.

Directions for Use

1. Allow the clearance shown in the Distance from Wall row for your size before positioning the chair.
2. Assemble the chair and connect the power supply and hand control as set out in the manual.
3. Fit the battery backup so the chair will operate during an outage.
4. Operate the chair from a seated position with both feet supported, and keep the area around the footrest and base clear while it moves.

Safety Information

• Do not exceed the 400 lb (181.5 kg) weight capacity.
• For one occupant. Do not let children play on or under the chair, and do not sit on the footrest.
• Keep hands, feet, pets and objects clear of the moving footrest, backrest and lift frame.
• Keep the power cord clear of the mechanism and away from foot traffic.
• Anyone unsure whether a lift chair suits their transfers, balance or seating needs should speak with an occupational therapist or physiotherapist before buying.

Care Instructions

• Follow the fabric care guidance for your chosen upholstery. Cleaning codes differ between the Astro, Capriccio, Crypton Aria and Trento fabrics.
• Vacuum the seat and back regularly, and blot spills rather than rubbing them.
• Keep the chair out of prolonged direct sunlight, which fades upholstery.
• Keep the mechanism clear of debris, and have a dealer service the chair rather than adjusting the lift frame yourself.

Specifications

Sizing

Size is chosen on the user's height first, then on seat width. Measure seat-to-floor against the user's lower leg, from the back of the knee to the floor in shoes, so the feet rest flat with the thighs supported. Measure seat depth from the back of the seat to about two finger widths behind the knee. Petite/Wide and Small suit the same height range but differ in seat width, so choose Petite/Wide where a wider seat is needed. Chair Depth and Distance from Wall together give the floor space to allow. The manufacturer notes that measurements may vary by plus or minus 1" (2.5 cm) and that height ranges are a guide only.
