Can I Take a Mobility Scooter on a Plane?
You sure can. Some of our models, like the ZooMe Auto-Flex, let you travel by plane with the scooter because they’re made with an airline-safe lithium-ion battery. With efficient and reliable folding scooter models, Healthcare Solutions offers convenience and simplicity at its best. As a precautionary measure, we recommend to always verify with the airline you are flying with if your model is eligible for travel. Some rules may be subject to change so it is always good to double check!

Does Insurance or Government Funding Pay for Folding Mobility Scooters?
Folding mobility scooters are powerful pieces of medical equipment that do a lot for the occupant. So, it stands to reason that in some cases their price tag will be relatively high.
But not to worry! In many cases, your insurance will cover much of the cost. In addition, Canadian government funding and insurance options can cover about 80% of the cost with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) coverage if you meet certain conditions, including:
You must need the scooter because your mobility is affected by a health condition.
Your doctor must provide a written confirmation that you need a mobility scooter.
You must be capable of using the scooter or there must be someone present at all times to provide assistance.
There are more requirements, so be sure that you meet all of them. If you’re in need of more assistance, do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

Travel Mobility Scooter Features
We have prepared a list of general folding mobility scooter features. Remember to carefully read the specifications of each scooter since they vary from model to model:
Folding Mechanism: When you’re finished using the folding mobility scooter or need to pack it up in the car, folding it up is simple. Most of our models let you fold down the tiller using an adjustment knob, such as the Pride Go Go ICruise, or by remote control, such as the Heartway Transit Electric Folding Travel scooter. Folding or disassembly is made easy and helps to keep people safe from injuries.
Airline Safe: Some of our models come with a lithium battery that’s deemed safe for travel onboard airplanes, such as the ZooMe Auto-Flex Folding Travel scooter.
Navigational Safety: Generally, folding mobility scooters are made to be the bare bones of what the occupant needs. However, some models come with front and rear LED lights or reflectors, such as the Pride Go-Go Folding scooter and the ZooMe Auto-Flex.
Customization: Certain models, like the Pride Go Go ICruise and the Heartway S26 allow the user to choose the colour of their folding scooter.
Batteries: Most of our folding scooters use lithium-ion batteries, but the Pride Go-Go folding scooter, for example, can also use sealed lead acid batteries. Depending on the model, a single charge can let the occupant cover up to 18 miles.
Weight Capacity: Our folding mobility scooter models have a maximum weight capacity that ranges from 200 lbs to 300 lbs. Weight capacity varies based on the batteries, the product weight, and the occupant.
Turning Radius: Because they’re designed with a lightweight frame with minimal storage, our scooter models have a turning radius that ranges from 32” to as much as 48.75”, depending on the model.
Ground Clearance: Also called ride height, this feature helps occupants For example, the Pride Go Go ICruise has a ground clearance of 1.3” whereas the Buzzaround CarryOn model has 4” of ground clearance.
Speed: Our folding scooter models can run up to 4 mph. The performance of each scooter varies based on several factors including, the weight present, the charging time, terrain type, and the battery capacity.
Minimal Storage: Our models of folding mobility scooters are made to be portable and lightweight, so they offer minimal storage options. However, the Buzzaround CarryOn is designed with a cup holder.
How Many Wheels Should My Scooter Have?
A three-wheel mobility scooter model offers better navigation around tight corners and small spaces since it has a slimmer frame and lower turning radius. On the other hand, a four-wheel model provides better stability and is ideal for outdoor navigation because it can handle more uneven terrain.
